Hannah bustled around the house, making sure that dinner was cooking and the table was set. Richard worked hard at TwinRidge, and she tried to make home a comforting place to be. She'd cleaned the house today, making sure that it was absolutely spotless. She had big news for her husband today, and wanted to make sure that he was in a good and relaxed mood when she told him.
The brunette put on a nice dress, and then, after a last check of the house, settled down on a couch with a thick romance novel. She dived right in, losing track of time as she read, and was lost in the world of the hero and heroine when the oven timer went off. Brown eyes widened, and she ran for the kitchen, pulling the lasagna from the oven and placing it on the stove to wait for Richard's arrival.
It was another ten minutes before she heard his key in the lock, and once again she abandoned her book to greet him at the door with a rather steamy kiss. "Hello, sweetheart. Dinner will be ready in twenty minutes." She took his briefcase and then went back into the kitchen to make a quick salad to go with the lasagna. She set all the food out and then took her seat, waiting for Richard to join her.

Richard kissed Hannah back and grinned as she took his briefcase. It had been a long day and he was glad to be home. The man took his shoes and socks off and headed into the kitchen. It felt good to be home. Relaxing was one of the things that Richard loved and being with his wife made him even happier. Taking a deep breath he said, "Dinner smells great. I bet it tastes as good as it smells."
He stole another kiss before he took his seat. "How was your day, gorgeous?" Richard smiled at his beautiful wife. After what happened during their last marriages Richard was glad that he had gotten together with Hannah. They were friends first and a married couple second. The man didn't want to talk about his day. The patients got out of a hand a few times and it caused a lot off chaos.
Something seemed to be different from Hannah. She obviously had something to tell him and it made him curious. "Something's different. What's up?" Richard tilted his head curiously as he looked at Hannah. She was gorgeous and no matter what happened he would be there for her... just as he hoped she would be there for him when he got home from work.

Hannah was never sure why Richard asked how her day was. Honestly, she didn't do much but cook, clean and do shopping. She read a lot too. Their bookshelves were full to bursting because of how much she read, and the selection was pretty eclectic. Mysteries, romance, biographies, histories, just about anything that she could find interesting was stuffed into the poor shelves that held her collection. Twice a year, she would go through and pick out about three boxes that she would donate to the local library. Then she'd start collecting again.
"My day was quiet, as usual. I hope yours wasn't to bad." She'd learned not to ask specifics about his day quickly. He didn't like to speak of his job, although he had on occasion. It all depended on how bad it was or how frustrated he felt. She always listened and offered what suggestions she could, although she really didn't know much about it.
A smile played over her lips when he asked what was up. She wasn't sure if it was his profession or if it was just that she was that easy to read, but he could always tell when she had news for him. And Hannah had some really big news. Some of it might be expected, but she knew that part of it wouldn't be.
"First thing is that they accepted our offer! We get to keep the house!" The woman practically bounced in the chair. They'd been renting the bungalow they were living in, and when the owners had put it up for sale, she and Richard had put in an immediate offer. After a month of no other offers, the owners had just called today and told them they could do a rent to own arrangement, so now the house was theirs.
Which means we can now decorate the second bedroom.....because I got a positive test today." Hannah paused and waited for the news to sink in. They'd been trying for children since the day they got married, and she'd finally gotten pregnant.

Richard grinned at the first bit of news, "That's great!" It meant they could truly settle down down. His eyes widened at the second bit of news and he jumped to his feet and pulled Hannah to him, swinging her joyously. "Oh Hannah! That's the most wonderful news!" He then pulled her close to him and kissed her passionately. After trying so long for a child he had been wondering if it was ever going to happen. But now here they were expecting parents.
Pulling back he took Hannah's beauty in. "How should we decorate the room? Maybe a scenic one? Beach? Outer space?" He grinned, "No specific gender colors. I want to be surprised when the baby is born." He kissed her again before twirling her around once more. "I love surprises. This is wonderful Hannah." He hugged his wife close. After finding out that their spouses had an affair with each other and then gone and gotten themselves killed he and Hannah were brought together in the time of grief. And here they were. Happily married and expecting their first child.
His eyes shown brightly as his mind raced with the news. Normally it would take time for news to sink in, but when it concerned her well being and the fact that they had been trying was news he wanted to react to right away. "This is something to celebrate. After dinner you want to go get some ice-cream? My treat." With that he kissed the tip of her nose and gave a joyous laugh. Stepping back he gently stroked Hannah's cheek. "I am so excited Hannah that I can't even describe it fully." But obviously his actions and his smile could. He loved Hannah and was looking forward to their new found future together.

She laughed at his reaction. He was far more excited than she was. Hannah was still in a bit of shock that it had happened. He swung her around and then kissed her breathless and she fell back into her chair with a silly grin on her face. Richard was always the more emotive of the two of them, easily excitable, and very outspoken in his emotions. Hannah was the reserved one, quiet, a thinker, always trying to figure out what the best option was before embarking on a certain path. It had taken her a while to give Richard a chance really, but he was a good balance for her over-cautious nature. She certainly had never had cause to regret her choice.
”Richard, we have several months, calm down, sweetheart.” His joy was contagious, and she found another smile pulling at her lips. ”You might want to be surprised, but I’d like to know. I want to be prepared. I promise I won’t tell you. Now sit, eat.” She urged him, although she knew that it was unlikely to happen. Whenever Richard got excited, he ended up acting like a three year old in a candy store. He offered to get ice cream after dinner, and told her again how happy he was.
”I know, I’m happy as well. But I need to eat healthy, and ice cream isn’t on the approved foods list until I start wanting pickles.” She teased softly. Hannah was a big girl, and she knew that if she wasn’t careful, she would easily gain far to much weight. She didn’t feel much like going out tonight anyway, she just wanted to go over the papers with the realtor and then celebrate with her husband in a private fashion.
