She knew she wasn't supposed to be working. Laura had been warned to the few people she'd confessed to that she was soon to be the mother of a bouncing little child. Worst of all was that she was actually starting to show! Four months this month and come August her secret would be out. For now she was finding that wearing loose clothing and a labcoat was helping to keep the growing baby bump barely hidden from view but things were growing increasingly difficult to put on. At a stretch she could wear her flowing floral summer dresses but how she wished for winter now.
Thick jumpers and heavy jackets. That would be sure to hide her baby for a few more months. The problem was that Drew didn't really know yet. Well, her brother had known that she'd lost the previous child with Richard but once the biological clock started tick tick ticking away, a woman had to do what a woman had to do. When she neared the age of 38 in March just four months ago, she wanted a baby desprately and she committed herself to becoming pregnant. Now she had a problem.
The line of work she was in was a dangerous one. She didn't want to lose another baby. The first was bad enough. This was the thought that drove Laura from the lounge and straight into the greenhouse. Once she burst through the door and heard it click shut behind her, making a moist breeze fall over her from the overhead irregation system, she allowed herself to start panting for the air she so desprately needed. Panic to Laura was like an air vaccuum and it was horrible.
A hand came up, perfectly manicured, to press against her heaving chest and she leaned forward just slightly eyes falling shut in an attempt to avoid a full blown panic attack. And all this, just because an HRP started acting up. The patient had been restrained quickly by security but Laura had happed to be in line of fire at that particular moment and thankfully it had just been her shoulder that had recieved a punch.... this time. It could have been far worse.
Her slender arms wrapped around her stomach and by the time she realised that there was someone behind her it was too late and she'd practically broken down in front of the person behind her. Laura twisted round, her eyes wide, face filled with surprise and she gasped ever so slightly staring at present company as if expecting THEM to break the silence. By making them break the silence she'd know how to play this. She had learned some tricks from Drew.
Her arms fell to her side so that she would not be a give away that quickly.
